Cawa-Cawa Boulevard, also known as R.T. Lim Boulevard, is a popular spot by the sea in Zamboanga City. It's perfect for a morning jog or run, or just hanging out anytime while taking in views of Sta. Cruz Islands, the port, fishing boats, and the stunning sunset.
Back in the day, Barangay San Jose Cawa-Cawa had a long, sandy beach that was narrowed by road widening along R.T. Lim Boulevard. This area was a favorite for locals during sunsets and weekends. The name "Cawa-Cawa" comes from "cawa," meaning frying pan in the local dialect, as the beach was thought to resemble one. Swimmers named it Cawa-Cawa to caution others about the deep waters.
In the evenings, Cawa-Cawa Boulevard buzzes with activity as people and students gather. Street vendors sell a variety of snacks, from soft drinks to all types of street food. It's also the perfect place to watch the sunset and see the Sama tribe members on their colorful vintas, selling fresh sea produce, including shells and corals, along the shore.
A Must-Visit when you come visit Mi Ciudad de Zamboanga.
